Baldwin County is in mourning after an accident last week that claimed the lives of a local professor and her brother. Three other people, including the professor’s husband, were injured in the accident.
The accident happened on Monday, October 10 at about 11:45 p.m. on Lake Laurel Road near Lake Sinclair. Three vehicles, two cars, and a small pickup truck were involved.
Baldwin County Coroner John Gonzalez was able to identify those killed as 51-year-old Allison Everett and 54-year-old David Black of Milledgeville.
Everett had been a long time professor at Georgia College. She and her brother were killed instantly.
Everett had been in the front passenger seat while Black had been a passenger in the back seat. Kenneth Everett, her husband, had been driving the car at the time of the accident.
Kenneth Everett sustained several serious injuries as a result of the accident and was recovering at Navicent Health in Macon.
The driver of the other car, was Brandon Hurst, 29, of North Augusta, S.C. He was also taken to the hospital with injuries.
The driver of the pickup truck suffered only minor injuries and did not go to the hospital.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation, but preliminary details have been released. The vehicle driven by Hurst was traveling southbound on Lake Laurel Road. For reasons unknown, the vehicle driven by Hurst and the vehicle driven by Everett collided head on.
