A car accident can be traumatizing to everyone who is involved, particularly if there are injuries. It can be even more traumatizing and disheartening to watch the other driver involved keep going or speed away from the accident. If you are involved in a hit and run accident, you should first pull over to a safe location and then call 911 to report the accident and request emergency services if needed. Give the police any details about the other car that you remember. After police have arrived and when the scene is secure, take pictures of the accident scene, your vehicle, and any injuries that you or your passengers have suffered. This evidence can help you obtain compensation and hopefully, help police catch the other driver.
CBS 46 reports that there are a growing number of calls for a Georgia lawmaker to resign following his response to a deadly hit-and-run accident.
Pressure is mounting for the Georgia House Majority Leader, Whip Trey Kelley, to resign following his response to a car accident involving a friend.
The incident occurred in Cedartown where a cyclist was hit and killed by a man driving an SUV. The driver of the SUV did not stop. Instead, he proceeded to a gas station and called Kelley, telling the congressman that he thought he hit someone, but wasn’t sure.
Instead of calling 911, Kelley called the local police chief. The cyclist later died. The county coroner stated that Kelley and the police chief share part of the blame for the cyclist’s death.
There is a Change.org petition asking for Kelley to resign as well as asking Speaker David Ralston to censure the lawmaker.
