Authorities in Augusta are investigating after a woman was fatally struck by a sport-utility vehicle while crossing a road.
The August Chronicle reports 34-year-old Heather Floyd was hit by a passing Jeep at about 2 a.m. sunday as he crossed Washington Road from a convenience store to a hotel across the street. She died after being taken to the Medical College of Georgia Hospital.
Capt. Scott Gay of the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office says Floyd’s husband was walking behind her and witnessed the collision. Capt. Gay says it appears Floyd was at fault from not using a crosswalk, but the crash remains under investigation.
