The Union-Recorder reported Monday about a Georgia College student who was severely injured after being struck by a car in downtown Milledgeville Sunday morning, the second pedestrian to be hit in the middle Georgia town in the last two days after a Milledgeville man was struck the previous day while lying down in the middle of a roadway.
In this latest incident, a 22-year-old woman was struck on South Wayne Street in downtown Milledgeville just after midnight Sunday morning after being dropped off by another vehicle, according to the Georgia State Patrol. As the vehicle that dropped her off began to pull away, she apparently darted back as if she forgot something, but was struck by another vehicle as she entered traffic lanes. She was treated at the scene by Milledgeville Fire Rescue and Grady Emergency Medical Services before being taken to the Navicent Health Baldwin hospital by ambulance and then transferred to Navicent Health Medical Center in Macon. The Georgia State Patrol is currently investigating the accident.
