Fox Channel 24 ABC Channel 16 WGXA News reported that the victim has been identified in a fatal accident in Macon that killed a pedestrian last weekend.
According to officials from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred around 9 p.m. Sunday near the intersection of Pio Nono Avenue and Glendale Avenue in Macon. A 64-year-old Macon man walked into traffic while attempting to cross Pio Nono Avenue and was struck by a car in the traffic lanes.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for emergency trauma treatment but was pronounced dead, according to officials from the Bibb County Coroner’s Office. He reportedly lived at the Economy Inn on Pio Nono Avenue, near where he was struck by the car.
No possible reason was given for why the man walked out into traffic or whether the driver of the car will face civil or criminal penalties for the incident.
