An arrest warrant has been issued for College Park’s Mike Toye, the owner of MTI Limo and Shuttle. He is being charged with allowing an unlicensed driver to operate the shuttle bus and not maintaining a safe vehicle. The bus’ rear brakes were not working, the front tires were worn and the vehicle was low on brake fluid.
The shuttle bus collided with a tractor trailer earlier in May, injuring 17 people. The driver of the shuttle bus and the driver of the tractor trailer are also facing charges. Shuttle driver Yolanda Boles is charged with three counts of serious injury by motor vehicle, vehicle maintenance offenses and driving a commercial vehicle without a proper license. Mario Cochran, the driver of the truck Boles ran into May 24, is charged with serious injury by motor vehicle and making an improper U-turn.
The shuttle bus “passed” its internal inspection prior to operation on the day of the crash, which has piqued the interest of Federal Investigators, who are now inspecting MTI’s entire fleet.
