The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported recently that a person was killed on Tuesday, December 22 in a tragic seven-car accident along a busy stretch of Interstate 85 in Fulton County that shut down traffic in the area for several hours.
According to officials from the Georgia State Patrol and other local police and emergency agencies, the accident shut down I-85 near the Senoia Road exit (Exit 61) between Newnan and Union City around 6:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST). Georgia State Patrol troopers were called in around 7:00 a.m. to investigate and wrapped up their investigation around 8:40 a.m. in cooperation with South Fulton Police. South Fulton Police officers were on-scene until just after 10:00 a.m. EST, at which point all lanes of the highway were reopened.
Police have not released the names of people involved or specifics of the accident.
