Officers put their lives at risk every day in the service of the public. This is why they are hailed as heroes by many people. A Fulton County officer continued this tradition of service after a brave rescue, according to 11 Alive.
The off-duty officer came upon a wreck between a semi-truck and a sedan near the ramp to Fulton Industrial Boulevard. Both vehicles were on fire. Seeing this, the officer rushed into action and saved the occupants. The people in the vehicles were taken to the hospital in critical condition. The officer also had be treated for smoke inhalation.
Eastbound I-20 was shut down for hours while the wreck was investigated. There is no information as to what caused the wreck in the first place in the news report.
We thank the officer for his service and we hope that everyone injured in this wreck has a full recovery. It is officers like this that prove the heroism inherent in the profession.
