The accident occurred on Sunday, June 12 on Interstate 16.
The GMC Yukon was traveling west on Interstate 16 when a rear tire blew, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The vehicle flipped a total of four times, ejecting everyone on board the vehicle.
Bryan county officials at the scene of the accident stated that none of the 10 occupants of the vehicles were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
The family reported that a 16-year old and a 14-year old were in critical condition at Memory University Medical Center. They are scheduled to have surgery as a result of their injuries. Another two children have broken necks and one has a broken leg. Another child has a neck injury.
Two of the victims were discharged from the hospital.
According to the children’s aunt, Katie Hondo, the family was trying to have their children transferred to Atlanta hospitals.
