An East Point firefighter died Monday night when he flew off his motorcycle and hit a utility pole. Authorities say the victim, 47-year-old Carl Blake, was wearing a helmet, but it came off when he hit the pole.
Blake had been with the fire department for 15 years and was known as a “model firefighter.” He was pronounced dead at the scene.
