Auto accidents involving fatalities are always tragic. There are often questions and anger involved in such situations. Perhaps more so when the guilty party were fleeing from police at the time they caused the accident.
On Thursday, January 28th, two men were charged in connection with an auto accident that claimed the lives of an elderly couple in Norcross, Georgia.
A Johns Creek police officer attempted to pull over a vehicle for a traffic violation. When the vehicle refused to stop, a police chase ensued. The chase ended up crossing over into Gwinnett County.
At the intersection of Peachtree Parkway and Jay Bird Alley, the car the police were pursuing collided with another vehicle, ending the chase. Unfortunately, the impact killed the elderly couple in the second car. The victims were identified as Kryzysztof Krawczynski, 77, who was driving and Elzbieta Gutler-Krawczynski, 78.
The suspects in the offending vehicle were identified as Larry Thomas, 47 and his son, Jason Thomas, 18. They are from Tennesse and have been booked into the Gwinnett County Detention Center.
Larry Thomas faces more than 15 charges, including vehicular homicide, DUI, failure to maintain lane, and driving recklessly along with charges related to drug trafficking. His son was also charged with several crimes, most involving trafficking. Both were also charged with the possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
