Ewrestling.com reports that former WCW and WWF star Marcus “Buff” Bagwell was involved in a tragic car accident on Sunday, August 16th in the Cobb County area of metro Atlanta.
According to the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (S.T.E.P.) unit of the Cobb County Police, the accident took place around 5:18 pm on Sunday on Cumberland Boulevard east of Cumberland Parkway near the SunTrust Park complex. Bagwell, a former ten-year WCW veteran who wrestled in WWF after WCW shut down in 2001, was driving a black 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe west on Cumberland Boulevard when he allegedly lost control while passing through a curve in the road. The Tahoe crashed through the center median, across the eastbound lanes, and collided with a curb and a Cobb County Transit facility.
Bagwell, fifty years old, was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta with serious injuries, and S.T.E.P. investigators believe he was impaired by prescription meds when the accident took place. Cobb County Police asks that anyone with information about the collision contact investigators at 770-499-3987.
Sadly, this isn’t Bagwell’s first trip to Kennestone after a car wreck; he was seriously injured and taken to Kennestone after a wreck in 2012 that broke bones in his neck, face, and jaw and required major surgery.
