On this blog, we talk a lot about the negative effects of crashes. But sometimes stories of personal heroism come out of tragedy. We want to share one with you that was reported by Fox 5 Atlanta.
Seven and a half months ago, Tori Blocker was in a severe accident. Her driver’s side door was crushed by a 15-ton bucket truck. It was a miracle that she survived at all according to the police.
She was in a coma for weeks with a severe brain injury. Yet she started to recover. The first step was discovering she could communicate via a whiteboard. Next came weeks of intensive speech therapy to retrain her brain how to speak.
Then came the physical therapy. Her mother set a goal. She wanted Tori to be able to walk to the prom with her boyfriend, who stuck by Tori through the whole incident. Two days later, she managed to take her first steps away from the wheelchair.
In the end, she was able to make it to prom where she was warmly welcomed by her classmates and crowned prom princess. We are glad that Tori was able to make such a successful recovery and wish her the best in the future.
