In Cartersville, Georgia, a man was killed in a workplace accident. The accident occurred at the plant of one of the area’s largest employers.
Authorities report that the accident occurred at the Shaw plant in Bartow County on Saturday, April 2nd. The report indicates that David Holland, 56, was performing maintenance when he became trapped in a machine and died.
The location of the accident was Plant 15 on Highway 411 just outside of Cartersville.
There are no details available of just what happened prior to the accident or how the accident occurred. However, first responders to the scene of the accident said that the victim had no signs of life by the time that they arrived on the scene.
A Shaw spokesperson offered this statement: “The health and safety of Shaw’s associates are our top priority,” adding that “Shaw will be conducting an investigation into the matter.”
Shaw is headquartered in Dalton, Georgia, which is not far from the accident site.
A review of Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) records shows no complaints against the company’s Georgia plants in the past 15 years.
