Auto accidents can delay traffic and even shut down entire interstates for hours while they are cleaned up and investigated. They can also cause those involved serious injury and sadly, loss of life. There are more than just broken vehicles as a result of such accidents.
On Tuesday, January 19th, a pickup truck collided with a tractor-trailer on I-85 in Fulton County. Georgia State Patrol reports that the crash took place on the shoulder just before Senoia Road.
Justin Linthicum, who was from Fort Worth, Texas, was killed when the 2011 Toyota Tundra pickup truck he was driving left the roadway and crashed into a tractor-trailer parked on the shoulder. He was 27 years old. The Tundra became pinned under the tractor-trailer.
The driver of the tractor-trailer, 61-year old Marshall Davis, was from Lithonia. Thankfully, he was not injured in the accident.
The accident caused traffic delays and closed 3 lanes of I-85 southbound. The lane closures lasted about two hours as authorities investigated and cleaned up the crash.
It was still not clear what caused the truck to leave the roadway.
