Atlanta’s infrastructure can’t seem to catch a break, and the latest incident has sent a motorcyclist to the hospital according to WSB TV. Here’s the information on what happened on I-20.
For reasons unknown, the concrete of I-20 near Flat Shoals Road began to buckle upward right under a motorcycle and a car. The car was unharmed, but the motorcycle was launched up into the air by the sudden swift rise of the roadbed. The rider was thrown. Traffic was immediately halted for the investigation. The rider was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Friends of the cyclist said that he was an experienced rider, but no rider expects the road to suddenly rise to meet them, literally. We hope that the driver recovers.
We also hope that the driver can receive compensation from whoever was responsible for the road buckling. This is something a bit more than a freak accident. Roads just don’t buckle upward like that, or that much, without an underlying reason.
