Channel 13 WMAZ CBS News reported recently that an accident and associated hazardous materials spill from a commercial truck that took place Monday morning along Interstate 16 in Twiggs County has been cleared.
According to officials from the Twiggs County Sheriff’s Office, a motor vehicle accident occurred on the morning of Monday, December 7 along Interstate 16 in the eastbound travel lanes, just before the Georgia 95 interchange, between 6:30 p.m. and 6:40 p.m. The accident involved at least five vehicles, including three tractor-trailers, a tar truck, and another unidentified vehicle.
While information from the Georgia Department of Transportation indicated the accident would not be cleared until 7:45 a.m., Twiggs County officials reported around noon that they were able to open the interstate far quicker than expected. No word has been released on any injuries in the accident.
