If you have driven along the highways of Atlanta, then you are familiar with HERO workers. HERO workers do a lot of good things for the city. They help to clear accidents and provide roadside repairs to motorists that break down on the highways. Their bright-yellow vehicles are easy to spot.
But one HERO worker is now facing a life-or-death situation. The worker was placing road flares on I-75/85 near 17th Street very late at night to block off two lanes of traffic where an accident had occurred. A driver failed to notice the flares, the flashing HERO vehicle, the police vehicles investigating the accident, or the HERO worker. The worker was struck. He is now in critical condition at Grady Memorial Hospital with brain and head injuries. The driver was arrested and charged with DUI, reckless driving, and serious injury by vehicle. Police hope that one of their dashboard cameras caught the incident.
It is our hope that HERO workers can get the compensation they need through the city or through a worker’s compensation company. Roadway work is very dangerous work. If you have been injured in the state of Georgia and you have legal questions, contact John Foy & Associates today.
