A Gwinnett County woman is facing several charges including aggravated assault by strangulation and exploitation of a disabled adult. These charges came as a result of a hidden video camera set up by the victim’s son.
Police report that the video shows the caretaker kicking, pushing, and even choking her elderly charge. Gwinnett County Police said that the victim’s son set up the hidden camera after listening to his mother’s complaints.
The woman charged with the crimes, Lisa Williams, had only been working for Personal Touch for about three weeks. The company is based out of Loganville, Georgia.
Police are stating that more charges could be filed against Williams if more patients or families come forward with proof or allegations of abuse. Investigators did speak with four other patients at the home where the abuse occurred. They said that more charges against Williams are possible.
Gwinnett County Police Cpl. Deon Washington had this to say to those who may suspect elder abuse: “If there are allegations made by your loved ones don’t push them off and ignore them, take substantial threats to see what they’re saying is actually taking place.”
