11 Alive reported recently that a Fort Valley State University freshman passed away last week in a tragic motor vehicle accident that took place on Friday, January 14 in DeKalb County.
According to officials from the DeKalb County Police Department and Fort Valley State University, a FVSU freshman 18 years of age was tragically killed in a car wreck that took place around 12:30 a.m. Eastern Standard TIme (EST) on Friday, January 14, 2021 in DeKalb County. DeKalb County Police units responded to the single-car accident, which took place on South Stone Mountain Lithonia near Panola Road. The vehicle ended up at the bottom of the embankment with two people trapped inside.
The passenger’s condition is unknown, but the FVSU freshman, who was driving, succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital. The young student was a criminal justice major and star for the university’s track team.
