11 Alive reported recently on a tragic motor vehicle accident in DeKalb County that led to at least four deaths and the closure of Interstate 285 near Moreland Avenue for several hours in the early morning of Monday, February 8.
According to officials from the DeKalb County Police Department, the incident took place between 12:55 a.m. and 1:05 a.m. Eastern Standard Time on Monday, February 8, 2021 along the eastbound lanes of Interstate 285 near Moreland Avenue. Four people, ranging in age from the late teens to late forties, were struck while outside their vehicles and killed, while a fifth is in critical condition at a local hospital. Another person, allegedly responsible for the other five injuries, is also hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. The highway was closed for at least five hours for cleanup and investigation. No other details regarding the specifics of the accident have been released.
