It is good when people who are at fault for accidents admit to their wrongdoing and take their penalty well. Justice is forthcoming in the last chapter of a tragic incident that happened in April of last year when a truck driver crashed into two vehicles carrying students from Georgia Southern University.
Only two of the seven students survived. The driver in that crash has pled guilty to criminal charges and is serving time in prison. On the civil side of matters, a settlement has already been reached with one survivor and the families of the deceased. The last survivor’s case is now near completion.
A jury will now decide how much the last student, who received a traumatic brain injury, will need to continue to pay for medical care and for the lost years of her life. They heard testimony from the driver at the time of the crash and descriptions of the crash scene from the court.
The trucking company has also admitted fault in the case and has paid millions to the families. It is likely that the last victim will also receive substantial compensation.
