We just got through an ice storm in Atlanta, and while it is melting fast, it has possibly claimed the lives of some drivers in Southwest Atlanta.
Very early on Sunday morning, calls came in to report a car on fire. Just minutes earlier, officers had seen the car speeding down Campbellton road. The car had collided into a power pole and a tree, killing the three people inside the vehicle.
Officers do not know if they hit a patch of black ice, but they are sure the car was traveling at a high rate of speed before the collision. About ten homes also lost power from the power pole collision.
Whenever you have to travel on icy roads, you must go slower. Everything done on ice takes longer than it does on asphalt. Take your time and you can stay safe when there is ice on the ground.
