With the holiday season in full swing, many people are on the roads. They are traveling, shopping, working, and playing. With more people on the roads, there are bound to be more accidents. In Coweta County, Georgia, an accident claimed the lives of two people and seriously injured a third person. The accident occurred at around 7 p.m. on Thursday evening. The location of the accident was just north of Newnan. The vehicles were located on GA Hwy 16 at Hamilton Drive.
Firefighting crews rescued two people from two burning vehicles. Two others were declared deceased at the scene. A third victim was air-lifted to the burn unit at Grady Memorial Hospital. The identities of the victims have not yet been released.
All of the victims were adults.
The crash shut down the highway for at least two hours as authorities investigated the crash. No further details have been released. Images of the accident reveal two severely damaged cars that were twisted and burned.
