U.S. News and World Report reported that the Georgia State Patrol is investigating a tragic accident in Wilkerson County Wednesday morning that led to the death of four people.
According to the coroner, the accident happened just past midnight near the intersection of the Fall Line Freeway and Mt. Pleasant Church Road and involved a pickup truck and a small sedan, each carrying three passengers. One vehicle was northbound on Mt. Pleasant Church Road when it skidded while attempting to stop and impacted the other headed east on the Fall Line Freeway (also known as Georgia State Route 540).
Four of the six people involved were killed, three pronounced dead at the scene and a fourth succumbing to their injuries after being transported to the hospital. Two men from Milledgeville, both in their twenties, a 31-year-old man from Tennille, and a 77-year-old woman from Sandersville were all killed by the collision. The other two were hospitalized and no update has been released by Georgia State Patrol officials regarding their condition.
