Georgia 400 southbound was shut down Monday morning after a fatal car accident. The driver of a small coupe sedan struck the rear end of a 18 wheeler . The force of the impact sent the coupe out of control causing it to collide into another car. Both vehicles then lost control and came to rest in the grassy tree lined median.
Onlookers told Channel 2 Atlanta that the second vehicle, a van, was engulfed with flames; with the driver trapped inside. Luckily three bystanders who had stopped to offer both vehicles assistance rushed to his aid upon realizing he was in a wheelchair, due to a driving accident two years prior that left him paralyzed from the abdomen down, leaving him unable to exit the van on his own. He was transported to the hospital and listed under stable condition.
No additional information was released in regards to the condition of the 18 wheeler’s driver. The driver of the coupe was taken to a nearby Hospital where she was pronounced deceased shortly after.
