Michael Andrew Schick, 26, of Atlanta, Georgia, was booked into the Gwinnett County Jail on Monday, March 14th. He has had a flurry of charges thrown at him. He faces two charges of felony first-degree vehicular homicide; two felony counts of serious injury by vehicle; and four misdemeanor charges including DUI, reckless driving, speeding, and failure to maintain lane.
Schick, who had also been injured in the crash that occurred on February 10th, was given time to receive sufficient treatment for his own injuries before booking him on the charges.
The accident that led to the charges occurred just after 10 pm on February 10th on McKendree Church Road in Lawrenceville, Georgia.
Schick was driving his Honda Accord in the northbound lanes of the road when it crossed over the center line and slammed into a Toyota Camry that was headed southbound. Inside the Toyota Camry was a family of three.
The driver of the Camry was 26-year old Shana Fischer-Williams. She was badly injured and pinned behind the steering wheel. The passenger in the front seat, 29-year-old Sean Lowe, lost his life in the crash.
The couple’s son, 11-month-old Cameron Lowe, was in a car seat in the back of the car. The child was hanging upside down in his car seat. Authorities had to cut the child free through a window. The boy spent 11 days in the ICU before succumbing to his injuries.
Schick’s has had a first court appearance from jail. As of Wednesday, he was still in jail. His bond is more than $111,000.
