Dump trucks, like other super-heavy vehicles on the road, are quite useful but very dangerous. Their extra mass makes them much more damaging if they hit something. Drivers on Barrett Parkway in Kennesaw got a big scare when one dump truck had an alleged brake failure.
WSB reported on the story, which happened in the early afternoon yesterday. The dump truck rolled out of Chastain Meadows into several vehicles that were stopped on Barrett Parkway. This caused a chain reaction accident that damaged eight cars.
Some of the cars didn’t stick around to wait for treatment. They drove themselves to the hospital. One person was sent to the hospital by paramedics and over a dozen others were checked out. The dump truck also overturned and spilled its load on the street.
The driver told police that a brake failure caused the accident. Police plan on inspecting the truck to see if that is the case.
Drivers of commercial vehicles have to get special licenses to drive in public due to the danger their vehicles cause. Even one accident can cause a commercial driver to lose their job if they were at fault. Accidents like this show why.
