In a crash that occurred between a dirt bike and a car in southwest Atlanta, one person lost their life and two others were injured.
The accident occurred on Friday, March 18th on McDaniel Street near the intersection with Whitehall Street. The driver of a dirt bike was headed northbound on McDaniel and crossed the intersection with Whitehall before slamming into a Hyundai Sonata on the driver’s side.
The three people involved in the accident – the motorcyclist and the driver of the car along with a passenger, were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital. The motorcyclist died at the hospital of the injuries sustained in the crash. The condition of the driver and passenger of the car was not immediately known.
The name of the motorcyclist was not released.
One witness, Shay Willis, had just pulled into a gas station in the area when she heard the speeding bike. She reported to media that the crash came at the end of a police chase. Neither the police nor the Georgia State Patrol confirmed that a chase was occurring at the time of the accident.
The crash is still under investigation.
