DeKalb County, GA should see benefits soon regarding the safety of one neighborhood due to a concerned citizen.
John McMullan, a concerned citizen fed up with speeders in his neighborhood, has spent $9,730 purchasing two speed radar signs for the community.
As reported by Channel 2 news, he stated, “I want the traffic to slow down. I don’t want to live in a dangerous neighborhood.”
The posted speed limit is 25 mph, however, drivers’ estimated speed is anywhere from 40-60 mph.
County commissioners have agreed to cover the costs of the maintenance on the signs, and the signs are expected to be installed within a month.
Hopefully the signs will reduce drivers’ speed and make them more aware of the road conditions. Children at play and pedestrians could also benefit from these signs in avoiding the possibility of an accident.
