A motorcyclist driving on Interstate 285 was struck multiple times by passing vehicles following an accident that threw him from his motorcycle.
Officials with the Georgia State Patrol said that the man was riding his motorcycle on 285 East near Riverdale Road. At some point, he hit the rear end of a car in front of him. The accident caused the man to be thrown from his motorcycle.
At this point, the motorcyclist was run over several times by passing motorists after the crash.
The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the crash that occurred in the early morning hours of March 19th. Because the car that the motorcyclist struck continued driving, authorities are still attempting to investigate the exact cause of the crash.
Authorities and witnesses report that the driver of the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed prior to the accident.
The accident led to major traffic delays early Saturday morning. Police had to shut down all lanes of the interstate as investigators worked the scene.
