If you’ve been driving along I-75 north of the Perimeter the past few months, then you know about all the construction that is happening for the Northwest Corridor Project. Road workers and heavy machinery have been slowing down traffic to get the project completed. But a crane operator truck had a nasty accident there despite the safety precautions.
The truck was traveling near South Marietta Parkway when the brakes failed just after morning rush hour. The driver crashed into a semi-trailer and six other vehicles. Thankfully, only one person had to go to the hospital for their injuries. The driver stayed to give a full report of what happened.
Because the truck is a commercial vehicle and the driver reported mechanical failure, a full investigation of the truck will be completed before any charges are filed.
Sudden mechanical failure of a vehicle can cause any driver to panic. A huge vehicle may not have the maneuverability to get out of the way in time to avoid a crash. But that doesn’t absolve the driver and their employer from responsibility. Hopefully the injured people in this case can get the compensation they deserve.
