CBS Atlanta reported that a fatal traffic accident in the northwest Atlanta suburbs occurred Sunday evening.
The wreck occurred on the exit ramp from Interstate 285 West to Interstate 75 North, at a busy interchange adjacent to SunTrust Park and the Galleria in Cobb County. According to the Cobb County Police Department’s Selective Traffic Enforcement Program, which is investigating the accident, a gray 2020 Honda Accord was traveling west on I-285 in the right lane when it was overtaken by a white 1988 Toyota 4Runner traveling in the same lane.
The driver of the 4Runner attempted to change lanes and pass the Accord but clipped the left rear of the Accord with the right front of their vehicle. While the Accord went into the emergency lane and hit the guard rail, the 4Runner went into a roll, eventually landing on its right side.
The Accord’s driver was transported to Kennestone Hospital with minor injuries, but the 4Runner’s driver was not wearing his seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle, sustaining fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Anyone with additional information about the accident is asked to contact investigators at 770-499-3987.
