Atlanta Channel 5 Fox News reported that a fiery collision in the Atlanta suburban area in Clayton County between a train and a tractor-trailer Wednesday miraculously resulted in no injuries, according to Clayton County Police.
The horrific wreck occurred just before 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Mill Walk crossing in Rex, GA. A tractor-trailer became stuck on train tracks as a train approached the junction. Two people were on the train while only the driver of the tractor-trailer was in the truck at the time of the accident. According to early reports, none of them suffered from serious injuries.
The impact was violent, and photos tweeted out after the accident showed the cab of the tractor-trailer was fully engulfed in flame. Neither the truck nor the train was carrying anything hazardous; the tractor-trailer was hauling a load of mattresses.
The accident shut down the road and train crossing while emergency crews and first responders worked to put out the fire and clean up debris from the train, the truck, and their cargoes. The crossing warnings and other markers at the crossing were damaged in the accident and will require repair.
