An unfortunate side-effect of high-speed chases can be an accident. Although police make every attempt to keep the chances of an accident low, they do occur. When they do, people can get injured, and sometimes fatalities result.
A 21-year old woman, identified as Ana Christina Bolton of Atlanta, carjacked a black Dodge Challenger early in the morning on June 27. She was reported to have been armed.
Just before 3 p.m., the car was spotted on Camp Creek Parkway and Marketplace Boulevard in East Point. When police attempted to pull the woman over, she took off and a pursuit was initiated.
The pursuit covered more than eight miles before it came to an end.
Bolton made it to Fulton Industrial Boulevard and Boat Rock Road before she hit another Charger with three children and two adults inside. Additionally, Bolton struck a white pickup.
One of the passengers, an eight-year-old boy, was taken to the hospital and placed on life support. He succumbed to his injuries several days later on the 30th. The other passengers in the car are expected to be okay.
Bolton waived her appearance in court, which was supposed to have been on Thursday, June 30th. With the boy’s death, she is likely to face additional charges.
