11 Alive reported on a chain reaction of events in DeKalb County, a populous region of suburban Atlanta, that left two people dead along a busy stretch of Interstate 20 Sunday night.
The incident occurred just after ten pm near the Panola Road exit of I-20, when DeKalb County Police Department officers responded to a car accident call only to find a male victim inside the vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound.
The initial investigation by DeKalb County Police indicates the victim was shot while driving on I-20 and his car came to a stop in the middle of the highway. It was then struck by another vehicle driven by a female driver who exited her vehicle and was then struck by a tractor-trailer, dying at the scene of the accident. The gunshot victim was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation is ongoing and no suspects have as of yet been identified, according to DeKalb Police representatives.
