Each day, thousands of students across Georgia take school buses to get travel between home and school. While school buses are the safest way for students to travel to and from school, accident statistics involving school busses are difficult to compile. It is difficult to get individual crash information from the differing school districts. However, when it came to metro Atlanta schools, between July to December 2016, there were 700 accidents involving metro Atlanta school buses, averaging around 117 bus-related crashes each month. It still represents a small number of overall crashes, according to the NHTSA. School bus-related crashes only account for about 0.04% of all traffic accidents that took place between 2008 to 2017.
