The Newnan Times-Herald reported recently that a motor vehicle accident in Sandy Springs Thursday evening, allegedly caused by a woman driving under the influence of alcohol, led to her arrest and to severe injuries for the bicyclist she hit in the accident.
According to officials with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office, a Peachtree City woman, 36 years of age, faces charges of leaving the scene of an accident with injury, serious injury by vehicle, obstruction of officers, driving under the influence (DUI), failure to maintain lane and following too closely after an incident Thursday evening in which she struck a bicyclist and then fled the scene of the accident near the intersection of GA Highway 154 and Glen Forest Trail.
The bicyclist suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Atlanta Medical Center and his condition is currently unknown.
