WMGT Chanel 41 NBC News reported recently that a bridge on Bass Road over a railroad closed for at least six days for repairs starting on Thursday, December 10, according to Bibb County transportation officials.
The repair was necessitated by a missing guardrail caused by a recent motor vehicle accident and was considered an emergency repair due to the safety hazard. Only local traffic will be allowed between Forsyth and Rivoli Drive in the area of the damaged bridge.
“We have tried since the accident to call as much attention to this issue while we worked with the Department of Transportation, Norfolk Southern, and our departments to develop a plan to safely make the repairs,” the county engineer said. “This was something that needed to be addressed as quickly as was safely possible, and I applaud everyone involved for making this a priority.”
