Hit and run accidents often leave more questions than answers. When they occur, law enforcement agencies can search for the vehicle involved, but sometimes not find those at fault. However, sometimes, law enforcement does manage to apprehend the person involved.
On New Year’s Eve this year, a man involved in a fender bender on Interstate 20 westbound stepped out of his vehicle to attend to the accident. He was then struck by another vehicle traveling the interstate. Sadly, the man did not survive his injuries.
The accident occurred at about 2:15 am near Hamilton E. Holmes Drive in Atlanta. The name of the man who was struck has not been released.
The person driving the vehicle continued driving without stopping and, in fact, sped away from the scene of the accident.
Authorities have arrested the man accused of being behind the wheel of the vehicle.
On Monday, January 4th, 2016, Atlanta Police arrested 20-year-old Antonio Andrews in connection with the fatal accident. Andrews arrest came just six days after his 20th birthday.
Andrews is charged with felony homicide with a vehicle, felony hit and run, and failure to maintain lane. He was being held in the Fulton County Jail on these charges.
