CBS 46 News reported Saturday on the Atlanta Police Department’s search for a fugitive driver believed responsible for a fatal hit-and-run accident.
According to spokespeople for the Atlanta Police Department, an accident call came in around 10:00 a.m. on Saturday near the northbound exit for Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. on Interstate 285, Atlanta’s surrounding ‘beltway’ interstate. They found two vehicles that had been involved in a wreck, a Hyundai Sonata and a Chevy Cruze, with the Hyundai Sonata having overturned. Eyewitnesses stated that the Cruze attempted to exit the interstate and struck the Sonata, causing it to flip over.
One of the Sonata’s occupants, a woman, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, while the other, a male, was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital with critical injuries. The Cruze was also occupied by a man and a woman, and eyewitness reports stated they ran away on foot after the crash.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS.
