A pro basketball player for the Atlanta Hawks was involved in a collision that injured a motorcyclist Monday afternoon.
Paul Milsap, who is a forward for the NBA team the Atlanta Hawks collided with a motorcycle in Atlanta. Fire department and police officials responded to the scene.
The police report indicates that Milsap was not at fault for the accident. The motorcycle driver pulled out in front of the Rolls Royce that Milsap had been driving.
The motorcyclist was given a citation for failure to maintain lane. He lost control of his motorcycle and hit Milsap’s vehicle head on.
Millsap was not injured in the accident. He took part in Monday’s shootaround before an exhibition game against the Pelicans.
At the time of the accident, Millsap had been departing a team-sponsored golf outing at the Druid Hills Golf Club. The location of the accident was near the intersection of Ponce de Leon and Oakdale Road.
The motorcycle caught fire after the accident. Firefighters extinguished the fire and assisted with the cleanup. A Grady Hospital ambulance was on scene assessing the injuries that the driver of the motorcycle received. He was alert and conscious.
Millsap reached out to the family of the motorcyclist and learned that he was expected to undergo surgery on Tuesday. Saying that he was shaken by the incident, Millsap also said it was important to send his best wishes to the other victim.
