11 Alive reports on a tragic wreck that involved three vehicles on the outskirts of Atlanta that led to the death of a 5-year-old girl on Saturday night.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, the accident happened around 10:30 p.m. in Hall County, on the northeast side of metro Atlanta surrounding Lake Lanier. A 42-year-old Flowery Branch woman was driving a 2006 Honda Odyssey on Smallwood Road and attempted to go straight across Athens Highway. For currently unknown reasons, she failed to heed a stop sign, and two oncoming vehicles struck the Odyssey after coming around a curve.
The driver of the Odyssey and a passenger suffered minor injuries, while the driver’s daughter did not survive the accident. The driver and passenger of a second vehicle also suffered minor injuries, while the driver of the third vehicle was unhurt.
Troopers from the Georgia State Patrol are currently investigating the accident and charges are believed to be pending the results of the investigation.
