Atlanta is known for its congested roads and drivers that love to speed. While a proud Atlantan may say that their driving skill is good enough to go fast, sometimes things go wrong. An accident that happened at I-20 near Fulton Industrial Boulevard is a case in point on why it’s never a good idea to follow too closely.
WSB TV reported on a 16-car pileup near the area last Sunday afternoon. It shut down I-20 as wreckers tried to disentangle and remove the damaged vehicles. Ten people had to be taken to the hospital for minor injuries, including an infant. No one was killed in the accident.
While it is good that no one was injured too badly, finding out whose fault it was for each individual crash is going to be an insurance nightmare. Payouts in multi-car crashes like this can be swept under a rug by a lot of finger-pointing between the companies.
However, if you have a skilled personal attorney on your side, they can negotiate on your behalf with the companies. Personal injury attorneys get to know local insurance company representatives quite well through the courts. In many cases, an insurance company would much prefer to settle things rather than fight a case out in court with an experienced attorney.
