The Georgia State Highway Patrol was busy over the Labor Day holiday.
With the holiday come many travelers. Therefore the roads are filled with more drivers than usual on a given week. This increases the risk for car accidents.
As reported by the Georgia State Patrol, 10 people were involved in fatal car accidents over the holiday weekend. In addition, 373 traffic crashes were investigated resulting in 230 injuries.
And then there are also the drivers who push their limits driving under the influence. During the holiday, 240 arrests were made for driving under the influence.
And we can’t forget the drivers who refuse to wear seat belts. State troopers issued 938 citations for seat belt violators.
As we all know, holidays tend to bring out travelers. Increased traffic, along with celebrating with a few drinks, and certainly not wearing a seat belt can make for dangerous road conditions.
