Construction workers face the prospect of injuries every day. Not only do they have to contend with slipping and falling, but road construction workers have to be very careful about the traffic zooming by while they are doing their jobs.
That’s exactly what happened in Carroll County this past Friday. According to WSB Radio, a Honda Civic ignored the clearly marked barriers for the road construction zone and struck four people on the road crew.
“For people out here working trying to make the roadways better and for this to happen is terrible. It’s terrible for anybody,” said a member of the Department of Public Safety.
One of the road crew was killed by this errant driver. The others were taken to local hospitals. The driver of the vehicle was uninjured. Authorities are currently investigating the scene to figure out what exactly happened, though it is suspected that the driver was under the influence and speeding through the construction zone at the time of the accident.
