We at John Foy & Associates are so very grateful for all we have this holiday season. But we know that many are not as fortunate, our hearts go out to those who will be on the streets this winter, especially the children and teens. This year we participated in a blanket and winter clothing drive for the Changing Hearts of Atlanta Inc. a new organization dedicated to addressing youth homelessness, especially those who identify as LBGTQ.
Georgia has the second highest risk for homelessness for children in the United States. Atlanta, in particular, has a steady stream of young people who identify as LGBTQ who come to our city as a place of refuge, only to find themselves on the streets. All young people need stability and consistency, both of which are scarcely found on the streets.
Our firm decided to participate by placing collection boxes in our lobby. This photo with employee Christina McDow shows the generosity of people who work for us. We know a commitment to our community doesn’t end in the courtroom.
“I’m overwhelmed by the response of our employees,’’ says firm founder John Foy.
John Foy & Associates began as a one-room office in 1999 and has grown into one of Atlanta’s most recognizable personal injury firms. Our more than 20 attorneys and 70 support staff and paralegals are dedicated to helping those who have been injured by someone else’s negligence. What group has been injured more through no fault of their own than homeless children? Nearly 40% of homeless youth are LBGTQ, and nearly 7 in 10 of them say they are on the streets because of family rejection, according to a UCLA School of Law study.
