Austin M. Smith was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. He graduated from the Georgia State University Honors College in Atlanta, Georgia, receiving a Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Economics with Honors Recognition. While there, he was placed on the President’s List and the Dean’s List multiple times, and received the 1913 Founders Award. He had the privilege of being accepted into the Golden Key International Honor Society, the Delta Epsilon Iota Honor Society, the Beta Gamma Sigma Business Honor Society, and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. While in college, he enjoyed playing club soccer for Georgia State University. He then attended the Georgia State University College of Law where he received a Doctor of Jurisprudence. While there, he authored “The Legal Ripple Following the Winecoff Hotel Fire” documenting the Georgia State Legislature’s statutory premise reform following the fire to create safer properties in Georgia. In his tenure with the firm, Austin has fought for hundreds of clients who have been civilly wronged by the negligent and intentional acts of others in motor vehicle accidents, property incidents, shootings, and assaults.
He is currently a member of the State Bar of Georgia, the State Bar of South Carolina, the Northern District of Georgia of the United States Federal Court, and the American Bar Association. Austin is licensed in all of Georgia’s Magistrate, Business, Family, State, and Superior Courts and is licensed in all of South Carolina’s Municipal, Magistrate, Probate, Family, and Circuit Courts, as well as South Carolina’s Court of Appeals and Supreme Court. In his spare time, Austin enjoys playing soccer, running, and supporting all of Atlanta’s sports teams.
