Driving a vehicle comes with all kinds of responsibilities. You must pay attention to the road, other drivers, and pedestrians. Vehicle maintenance is also of extreme importance; making sure that everything remains in working order to ensure safety is paramount. Perhaps the most important thing is to always remember to wear your safety belt. It can not only save your life, in most areas, it is the law.
Last weekend, students in Morgan County High School gathered to remember a student who had been killed in a motor vehicle accident.
Seth Stapleton, age 17, was involved in a single-vehicle accident early Saturday morning. He lost control of the F-150 pickup truck while going around a curve. He hit a culvert and two trees during the incident. The Georgia State Patrol confirmed that Stapleton had not been wearing his seatbelt.
He was pronounced dead at Morgan Memorial Hospital where he was taken following the accident. The high school’s scoreboard was lit up with Stapleton’s jersey number. Hundreds, many fellow students gathered at a candlelight vigil on the football field.
Just before the accident, Stapleton had played in Morgan County High School’s homecoming game. The team was defeated, but the game was featured as the #Team11 Game of the Week. Students also utilized #SethStrong on Twitter to share their thoughts and condolences.
