Channel 13 WMAZ CBS News reported recently that the first pedestrian fatality of the new year has been recorded for Bibb County as an elderly Macon man was hit and killed near his home in the early morning hours of Saturday, January 2.
According to the Bibb County Coroner’s Office, a Macon resident 92 years of age was killed outside his home on the 2200 block of New Clinton Road between 10:25 a.m. and 10:35 a.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on Saturday, January 2nd when he was hit by a motor vehicle. A woman 36 years of age was driving an SUV down New Clinton Road near its intersection with Companion Drive and, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, reported that she never saw the victim until he stepped out into her path at the last second.
The accident is currently under an investigation and anyone with information is asked to call the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
